ACT ALLIANCE STRATEGY FOR PROTECTING AND BUILDING CAPACITIES

Honduras & Nicaragua 2011

Background:  The ACT Alliance is a global alliance of over 100 churches and church-related organizations founded on 1 January 2010 and bringing together two alliances: ACT International and ACT Development. There was a recognized need for both a surge in capacity at a local level and a plan for protecting a sustainable level of capacity once emergencies have been resolved.

Requirement: A consultant to design a strategy tailored for the ACT Alliance’s unique structure using participatory methods that outlines models for capacity strengthening of local ACT Members and Forums during a humanitarian response.

GEG Contribution: A GEG team designed a new ACT Alliance strategy aimed at building the capacities of member organizations during emergencies. This work included field missions to Honduras and Nicaragua to incorporate critical field perspectives into the final strategy product.
