GEG was engaged by Conseil  Sante to carry out the Final Evaluation of the first phase (12M EUR) of the EU-funded Natural Disaster Facility

Background:  The EU and the Africa Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) group of States jointly established the “ACP-EU Natural Disaster Facility” (2007/019-184) with the goal of promoting an approach to natural catastrophes based on preparation, resilience and mitigation. The facility aims to contribute to the capacity building and information sharing of six sub-regional institutions entrusted with disaster risk management.

Requirement: Evaluation to assist in strengthening the DRM sector by consolidating capacities at national level, establishing partnerships for the exchange of information and best practices at sub-regional and regional level, conducting high-level advocacy campaigns and creating sustainable mechanisms of knowledge management.

GEG Contribution: Provided a two-person team (one as an M&E technical expert and another as a DRM/DRR Subject Matter Expert) with wide experience of these sectors in all three regions to carry out a rigorous evaluation that utilized a mixed methods approach combined with high quality Results Oriented Monitoring (ROM).
