IFRC DISASTER SERVICES IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

GEG contracted to lead a change management project to improve Disaster Services, working with the IFRC Secretariat in Geneva, staff and member societies world-wide

Background: Due to its extensive past experience working with IFRC and skills related to strategy design, GEG was in a unique position to support IFRC with a strategic analysis of its global disaster services.

Requirement: Design changes to improve relevance, management and coordination systems, member satisfaction, human resources capacity, efficiency, effectiveness and impact of IFRC Disaster Services.

GEG Contribution: GEG conducted a significant organization-wide disaster services improvement project with the IFRC Secretariat in Geneva and member societies worldwide that led to the creation of a global IFRC 3-Year Disaster Management Strategy. GEG provided exhaustive analysis of current services, structures and member needs with recommendations for integrating preparedness, response and risk reduction services. This project approach utilized a mix of stakeholder interviews surveys, regional consultative reference group meetings, gap analysis, project management and budget analysis, Secretariat stakeholder interviews, a survey of global membership, regional consultative reference group meetings, review of policies, studies and evaluations,  gap analysis,  project planning and budgeting. This resulted in an exhaustive study analyzing and comparing current services, structures and member needs with recommendations for  integrating preparedness, response and risk reduction and allocation of centralized versus decentralized services aligned with member priorities.
