IFRC TUNISIA CRISIS FIELD ASSESSMENT AND COORDINATION TEAM (FACT) LEADERSHIP

Tunisia 2011

GEG immediate deployment of Team Leader for the Field Asessment and Coordination Team (FACT) that led IFRC relief activities responding to the Libyan crisis in 2011

Background:  The conflict in Libya led to significant flows of displaced persons across the border from Libya into Tunisia. IFRC took responsibility for conducting assessments, providing temporary shelter, relief, WASH and health services.

Requirement: IFRC identified the need for a Field Assessment and Coordination Team (FACT) Team Leader for immediate deployment to the Tunisian border.

GEG Contribution: Responding to a request from the American Red Cross, GEG provided an experienced response person with the requisite profile to lead the IFRC relief operation. Deployment of Crisis Field Assessment and Coordination Team (FACT) Leader involved assessment and delivery of emergency program and coordination, setup of IFRC and Tunisian Red Cross transit camp and staffing base-camp. Significant new funding secured from major donors.
