US SOUTHERN COMMAND EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER & DISASTER RELIEF WAREHOUSING TRAINING

Haiti 2014

GEG supported US Southern Command in Haiti through its partner, Metis Solutions, with the delivery of Emergency Operations Center and Disaster Relief Warehousing trainings as part of the United States Southern Command Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Preparedness Assessment, Logistics, and Training (SOUTHCOM HA/DP) contract vehicle.

Background:  The US government via the US Army SOUTHCOM provides infrastructure support to build emergency response capacity in national disaster management agencies in the Caribbean and Americas. This includes SOUTHCOM providing support both for the physical structures such as Emergency Operations Centers and warehousing training, and support for the management and mobilisation of these facilities, working in collaboration with local, national, regional and international governmental and non-governmental organizations to improve recipient nations’ disaster response capabilities.

Requirement: To provide Francophone training staff materials and facilitation for SOUTHCOM in Haiti.

GEG Contribution: GEG provided two French speaking language Subject Matter Experts with experience in the design  and facilitation of EoC management and warehousing logistics trainings. The GEG team deployed to two different locations in Haiti and delivered the required trainings in coordination with the Government of Haiti.
